Windows XP x64

Postby alexander-1969 » 10 Jun 2024 08:03

Hello,

what is the latest Version of VLC x64 running under Windows XP x64 ?
what is the latest Version of VLC x64 running under Windows Vista x64 ?
what is the latest Version of VLC x64 running under Windows 7x64 ?

Where can these versions been downloaded ?

The installation program of

vlc-3.0.21-winx64.exe

does under Windoes XP x64 only start through the command prompt;

When the message appears (something like "Installation in Progress. please wait while VLC media player is been installed") the processes are checked. Then the message appears

"VLC scheint ausgeführtr zu werden und wird nun geschlossem."
something like
"It seems that VLC is running; it will be closed"

Then, the options OK and CANCEL are appearing; none of these options allows the installation of the program.

The error seems to beL VLC was never installed on the computer and can not be running (without installation)- A reboot does not help.

issues:

1) the error above

2) what are the latest versions (Win XP x64, Win7, Win 8)

3) please specify the latest versions of the software on your website more detailed

4) unfortunately, I did not find a way to post the error message as JPG; please provide me an e-mail-adress for that

Thank you

alexander

VLC v3.0.21 is supposed to be compatible with Windows XP and any other Windows version above. Hence Vista, 7, etc up to 11 as of today.

Please proceed as follows:
First, reboot your computer.
Uninstall VLC.
Then delete the whole C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\ folder if it's still exists, it might also be C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\ if you have used the 32-bit version for some reason.
Also delete the whole %APPDATA%\vlc\ folder.

Once done, reboot again and reinstall latest version of VLC, v3.0.21 as of today.

I downloaded the version of today and I uninstalled the old version ans I deleted the folders as mentioned.

Then, the installation was successful - but only after I had started the .exe file through the command prompt.

At the end of the installation routine, I could not start the program.

The error message is:

vlc.exe Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point wscs_s coud not be located in the dynamic link libary msvcrt.dll

what do I do now ?

I do not know how to insert the message as JPEG in this posring and I do not have an email adress I could sent the JPEGs to

Thank you for your help

Wasn't it "wcscat_s" instead ? It's a very recent addition in 3.0.21.

I re-checked the error - and I made a writing mistake:

wrong: wscs_s
correct: wcscat_s

unfortunately, I do not have an e-mail-adres I could mail the JPEGS to

I did not find any information in the Eventfiles / logfiles in XP x64. Is there a way for me to provide more detailled information ?

https://artifacts.videolan.org/vlc-3.0/nightly-win64/

Then download it from the most recent folder which should be at the top of the list.

I also have the issue in windows XP 64 bit sp2. I was limited to use old 3.0.0. but this helps me use the latest version on my laptop. But on the nightly builds, there's a bug which didn't allow me to use UI menu on full-screen.(While watching video.) I hope this might get fixed. I'll produce video evidence if you want.
Version name:vlc-3.0.21-win64-ac310b4b.exe
Os: windows XP professional x64 sp2

What do you mean ? What exactly can't you use ?
