Playing enqued files: what defimes the sequence that files are played in?

Postby portsample » 03 Jun 2024 22:11

My project generates .avi files that are 10 minutes in length. The naming format is YYYYMMDDHHMMSS_Location. When I select the following files,
20240602010159_Riverbank.avi
20240602010209_Riverbank.avi
20240602010219_Riverbank.avi
20240602010229_Riverbank.avi
20240602010239_Riverbank.avi
20240602010249_Riverbank.avi
right click and then enqueue in VLC media player, the files do play, but the sequence is inconsistent with later timed files sometimes playing before a file recorded earlier. Why is this? Is there a way to have the files play sequentially? The files are sorted alphabetically in the directory, which should also be the chronological given the timestamp prefix.
OS is Win10, fully updated. Thanks in advance.

The order is whatever the application where you make the selection makes it. Windows Explorer is known not to respect ordering if that is what you use.
