NO sound bug, since a recent update

Postby Fyrsten666 » 29 Mar 2024 05:30

I have used Videlan player for more than 10 years, but now it's pretty useless. There is NO SOUND, when playing mp4 video, since I updated the software a few months ago. I have tried everything in settings, and my audio settings and sound cards are not the problem. I have lots of sound when using Windows Media Player, so nothing wrong with the mp4 files.
I suspect there is a missing codec problem, but Videolan brags about not needing any codecs, and its probably not compatible with any codecs either, so what to do? Could the vlan team have messed up the decoding of mp4 when they made some update to vlan, or were they forced to drop it because of a lawsuit?
Anyway, I miss using vlan, and it's sad if the vlan team forces me to use Windows Media Player instead :(
I am using Windows 10, latest update btw. AMD Ryzen 5. 32 Gb RAM. NATIVE AUDIO KOMPLETE AUDIO 6 (a professional audio interface for musicians).
I have sound in all software, including Avid Pro Tools and all other Video software. So it's quite obvious that there is a major bug in Vlan 3.0.20

Please help!

First, check the Windows mixer state:
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/the-new- ... er-control

If it doesn't help then rename the executable from VLC.exe to VLC2.exe and try again.

If it works then for some reason VLC has been muted in the sound mixer settings.

Thanks, but it did not work either. The VLC are not muted in the Mixer. And I forgot to mention that VLC have no sound whatsoever, no matter what type one want to play. No audio, only picture. Must be a serious bug, and I wonder why the team does not fix it.

Because it's not a bug with VLC, there are millions of VLC which are working fine around the world, including mine.
So the problem is on your system, obviously.

Try another audio output module:
http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ-2.0 ... _anomalies

If it doesn't help then open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it if it's too long.
