Just trying to add a folder with all my music in and can it be done simply?

Nope, it's about as user friendly as being hit in the face with a baseball bat.

All you need it an option to add you music folder and it will scan that folder and organise your music like every other f-king media player.

I just want to play music in the kitchen from my pc in the bedroom (I can cast to my speaker)... Well I would if VLC would make adding a media library simple.

But no, keeping things simple and easy to use is to f-king easy.

Media -> Open Directory.

This is evidently so very hard that you had to insult volunteers (in a post that has been deleted). You are welcome to use commercial alternatives if you prefer. VLC does not make money from you using it anyway.
