Save in a format other than AVI

Postby titiph56 » 03 Mar 2024 11:39

Hi,
When I watch a video in VLC, I record an extract which automatically goes into avi format. I would like to be able to modify this format to save as mp4.
Currently it requires me to convert to mp4 and I have many video clips.
Is there a way to change the automatic output format of the recording ?
Thanks

VLC records the streams in their native format so nothing can be done while recording.
If you want to change the container then you need to do it afterwards, if possible because it depends on the codecs being used by the streams.

Handbrake converter app has a "Folder (batch scan)" feature
to convert all files/clips in a specific folder
to a selected resolution, bit rate, video codec and audio codec type.
