Uninstalling leads to blank icon on Start Menu

Postby Theagames10 » 18 Feb 2024 20:54

I wanted to re-install VLC to update to the latest version of it (I had version 3.0.13), but after uninstalling it, it still shows but 'greyed out', as in a blank icon within the start menu that I cannot open or do anything to, not even get rid of it by right clicking it.

And when I do install a new version of VLC, the 'greyed out' version is still there, but it replaces the newly installed VLC version in recent history.

Is there anyway for me to fix this?

I uninstalled the new version of VLC I had to try and figure out how to get rid of the weird greyed out version in the start menu/search for Windows 10.

The image hopefully below shows what it is I am seeing after uninstalling the old version I had. (I was hoping for the image to work, but if it doesn't, then that fine.)

AFAIK this is the first time this problem is being reported. And TBH to me it seems to be more a Windows problem than a VLC problem.
