I'm running an old CPU (i5 4570S) w/ no vidcard in Win10 latest update, VLC latest release version.
That old PC is usually still working OK, except when VLC decides to use up all available CPU cycles even when my video is paused and its window in the background or minimized. I don't think it does it all the time, nor for all video formats - I have one such stopped vid open right now, VLC is at 1.7% CPU which is OK - but it does it several times a day, another paused + minimized vid was sucking 40% CPU and prompted me to write this post.
I understand with this old a chip and no vidcard, most video decode will happen in software and use up a lot of cycles. But the videos are paused and VLC's window not even shown.
I couldn't google up a similar issue.
Thanks for any help.
