Video playback freezes

Postby weybrew » 14 Jan 2024 04:47

Senior, average user, single WIN110 v 10.0.19045 PC, VLC 3.0.20.
In the past, I have, on intermittent occasions, had the video playback of a file freeze video with the audio continuing. I have been unable to find a way to restart the video or resync it with the playing audio. This condition is becoming worse. File format doesn't seem to matter, mkv, mp4, etc. Might someone be able to diagnose this problem and lead me to a solution? Maybe an uninstall/reinstall? Please note that I am not a techie. I would appreciate any help.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of your original problematic file to WeTransfer.com or Disroot.org and then post the link to the file here.

https://upload.disroot.org

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

200 MB max should be enough but a full complete short file is better.

Thanks for your reply, Lotesdelere. Though not a techie, I have tried to run the procedures you asked above, but I cannot see how to attach the files.
