WinCE status

I am about to start to try to compile VLC for WinCE running on Freescale, I see that there is an effort going to get it running on WinCE/XScale. What is its current status? Who is best to talk to about this?

Two ppl worked on this in the past. both of them are extremely busy with other things atm and are not expected to spend time on this again any time soon.

Is that why the nightly builds seem to have been discontinued (latest build being February 14)?

Is there any other good alternative for displaying video streams on Pocket PCs? Anyone?
