Problem with libdvdnav_plugin.dll

Postby Aklys » 19 Feb 2006 10:28

I've been getting an error constantly when I try to view the menu on a dvd. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the application while deleting the configuration, temp files and program directory to try and correct this error but without any luck.

But everytime it fails to run the menu saying that the faulting mod in windows is libdvdnav_plugin.dll. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue.

What version of Windows are you running?

Did you use the install version of VLC?

What Version of VLC are you using?

When you uninstalled did you use your Control Panel's add/remove programs?

I'm using Windows XP Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 (Service Pack 2), and VLC is version 0.8.4a which was installed and was uninstalled via add remove programs as well as having the references that were left behind in relation to the program were manually deleted after the uninstall in add/remove program.

OK! Are you calling the DVD from the Windows Pop Up or from inside VLC?

If from the Pop Up try inside the player. First try DVD (with Menus) Also try DVD (simple) this plays the movie without menus.

I have tried it both. Calling it from Explorer and from within the program. The only time the error occurs seems to be with DVD menus.

Given you seem to indicate that DVD (simple) works, I must ask if the region code of the DVD drive set to be the same as the region code of the disk you are trying to play?

Yes it is the same region code as my DVD drive. Region 4. But I also have DVDIdlePro installed (have also tried with it uninstalled) to remove region coding. This worked successfully up until yesterday when this problem started occuring.

And yes DVD simple does work on movies but when doing it on discs containing series it only plays the first episode on the disk.
