HEVC/H.265 video file cannot connect to TV that support HEVC

Postby Mohamed13 » 30 Dec 2022 13:05

I just bought a new TV that supports HEVC/H.265, but when I cast to a TV using VLC Media Player and Chromecast, the screen was blank but the audio worked fine. But when I cast using the TV itself in VLC it doesn't work at all. Currently, I have 3rd generation and I was thinking should upgrade to ultra to support the video files. But what do you think?

Run another test. Put the video file on a usb stick and plug it directly into the tv. The built in media player should be able to play it. Or, better, if the tv is android or google based, download the VLC media player. If any of that works, the problem might be in "casting".

It may depend on your ChromeCast generation:

Looks like ChromeCast Ultra is required.
