Sound all wrong

Postby Hard Of Hearing » 10 Sep 2022 18:25

I am trying to watch the new Twilight Zone series, currently on the telly on Monday nights.

Sadly, there is a problem with the sound, which makes it completely unwatchable on TV, so, have tried downloading online and watching with VLC, but, even with the extra volume (I typically have the volume at 162-175%), I am still struggling.

The problem is that, even in VLC, while the overall volume is enough, the dialogue is quiet (as a not-very-good comparison, think bands such as Slowdive or My Bloody Valentine, where the vocals are [delibarately] low down in the mix).

Is there any way that VLC can bring the dialogue to the front? Hope that explains it ok. This is one of my all time favourite programmes and am really struggling here.

Additional : Using VLC 2.0.1 (Twoflower) as it is the last version with the much needed Mono Playback function.

VLC 2.0.1 is no longer supported and basically nobody here remembers how it works and which bugs it had, so can't help you.

Ok, so, what would you say to me if I was using a current VLC version? I could at least see if the same thing works in 2.0.1.
