Postby real_nimr0d » 17 Jul 2022 03:24

Getting a black bar on gopro footage when viewing on vlc player on the left hand side, only happens when the gopro is mounted to chesty mount, that is gopro upside down but weirdly all other players play it fine.

Windows 10
Ryzen 5 3600
1080ti
VLC 3.0.16
Gopro hero 9

Update vlc to the latest version which is 3.0.17.4 and then check again: https://www.videolan.org/

By the way, you've uploaded your video explaining the problem with the Private flag enabled. That means nobody can view it without logging in.

Did update and I did unlist the video, guess I forgot to save changes or something, fixed now. Update VLC to 3.0.17.4, still the same exact issue.

Thanks

Superimposing the smaller window during playback seems to initiate the problem. Otherwise both black bars are the same size.

You could try disabling the setting "Resize interface to video size" to see if it makes any difference. Hit Ctrl + P to open prefs and you'll see the setting in the opening menu. After making the change hit Save, exit and restart vlc.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of your original problematic file to Zippyshare.com or to WeTransfer.com and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

200 MB max should be enough.

sounds like more a centering issue than a "black bar"
:!: If you want your problem to be solved :
* First read troubleshooting guide VSG:Main
* Always provide verbose LOGS ! (command line or from gui)
* Always check your issue against a developer build from Nightly Build of VLC
* Tell us when your problem is solved !

Try changing video output in preferences and see if it changes something
