Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify-- "should be deactivable" as in "it is", or as in "it's a feature we should include in the future"?

I LOVE THE HOLIDAY ICON!!!
Having the option to disable it would be nice, though, but I hope VLC never gets rid of it entirely. I kinda like it.

I've also wondered if other holiday icons might be considered...
The VLC orange pylon with :
- hearts and/or cupid for Valentine's...
- shamrocks and/or pot of gold for St Patrick's...
- bunny ears and/or colored eggs for Easter...
- jack-o-lantern and/or bats for Halloween...
- turkey and/or a Pilgrim hat (in place of the pylon, given its shape?) for Thanksgiving...

I know everyone is gonna dog pile on me for saying that - "Don't give them ideas!!!"

But I certainly like the Santa Cap for the Christmas holidays. It's amusing.
If I knew how to customize it internally, I'd make my own custom icons.

Menu bar, I select Tools. Then Preferences on the dropdown list.

THEN, click on "all"
It might help people if you specified the fact that the "All" you are referencing is not on the +/- tree list, but in the lower left corner of the Preferences' dialog window, in a small box called "Show Settings", with the options of "Simple" and "All".

Honestly, some of you nerds and tech geeks forget just how unfamiliar and confused the average/novice user can be with these things, and as such, details matter.

Menu bar, I select Tools. Then Preferences on the dropdown list.

THEN, click on "all"

OK, I finally found "All". Under Show Settings in the left column. Made the change. Sorry for being so stupid.

Harry
You were/are not stupid, Harry. You just got lazy, half-assed, vague instructions. That's not your fault.

Some of these computer/software nerds forget that not everyone lives and breathes this stuff 24/7, and specific details & instructions are in order (walk us through step by step, hold our hand, etc), rather than these minimal and vague references with a "figure it out yourself from there" implication.

But it sounds like you did manage to sort it on your own, hence proof you are not stupid.

Cheers.
