Recent update problem

Postby monsterian » 04 Jun 2021 11:15

The recent update was terrible for the sluggish response and loading. When I fast-forward in a video, the loading takes 2 to 3 seconds (The previous version barely took any time). I also tried reinstalling, but ran into the same problem.

This cannot be a Windows issue, as I have checked with the default video player.

Same problem here. Skipping takes awful long. Went back to 3.0.12 and it works like a charm.

Same issue here. Skipping ahead is noticeably laggy. I used to spam fast forward but now I have to be patient (same approx. filesize, compression, etc. as before)

Additionally when files first load it goes crazy. Typically a flashing green screen along with the first frame. I disabled hardware acceleration and it's horribly pixellated instead. Once it calms down after a couple of seconds, I can rewind to the beginning and the playback is fine.

I tried reinstalling as well.

Fixed in VLC 3.0.15 http://nightlies.videolan.org/
Or you can try to set video output module to Direct3D9 instead of Direct3D11/Automatic in VLC preferences.

Thank you for the heads up. Grabbed the latest nightly (6/8/21) and it's much better.
