Thanks for the link, but can someone tell me where I can view the embedded VLC codecs and their version.
Unfortunately in Input/Codecs > Subtitle codec: does not appear SubStation Alpha/SSA

Note: Windows 10, updates current to 20210324

Just wanted to add a "me too" to the list. I didn't do a ton of research when this happened, as I was doing a group-watch thing... This happened on the first file loaded which have embedded ssa subs. This is a new install on a fairly boisterous lappy with an 8-core, 10th gen CPU (5ghz slightly boosted) and an NVidia RTX2070. vroom.

I uninstalled and installed 3.0 and natch is fine. Is this a case of a missing .dll from the 3.0.12 release/drop?

Anyway - for the time being I've got to avoid the "Do you want to install 3.0.xx now?" prompt when I launch ;-)
I know I can probably grab a .dll for ssa but, considering that this was not a problem with previous builds I am considering that 3.0.12 might be re-built/patched to include the library, so figure I might wait for it.

As I said - just a "Me too" - no support or assistance required, unless the team is going to recommend that users gather up their own libraries for annoyances like these ssa subs going forward ;-)

Cheers,
S Francis

Interesting. But v3.0.12 works for me so far with the few MKV+SSA sample files I have.
Can you upload a short sample of your original problematic file to Zippyshare.com or to WeTransfer.com and then post the link to the file here.

https://wetransfer.com

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

100 MB max should be enough.
