VLC losing sides of video files

Postby nbadre » 26 Jan 2021 06:36

Not sure exactly how to describe my problem but recently, VLC started showing incomplete video frame: things appearing on the sides do NOT show up. I play the same file in Windows Media Player and there is a bigger rectangle with the sides complete. The most evident problem is when there is text being displayed and you can tell that it is incomplete, VLC sort of eating up the left part and/or the right part of the video... I hate switching to Windows Media Player or any other tool but if VLC doesn't want to work well for me anymore after many years of happy use, what can I do???

Check settings like zoom and video filters.
If it doesn't help, then reset the preferences:

YES!!!! Resetting the preferences SOLVED the problem.
