Monitor goes to sleep after 20 minutes.

Postby nuraman00 » 11 Dec 2020 06:41

I've had the same power settings for over a year. The monitor turns off after 20 minutes.

I frequently play CDs. I have the settings so that the screen goes off after 20 minutes of inactivity.

However, when I play a CD (and they're all longer than 20 minutes), the monitor turns off and I don't hear audio anymore.

I have "disable screen saver" checked.

When I use Windows Media Player, and their "allow screen saver" is unchecked, then it behaves how I want. CD playback isn't interrupted.

I want the same behavior in VLC.

  1. Right click the speaker icon on the Windows taskbar and click Playback devices.
  2. Click the Speakers to highlight and then click the Properties button.
  3. Click the Advanced tab and and in the Exclusive menu remove the checkmark from "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device".
  4. Do the same with the setting "Give exclusive mode applications priority".
  5. Click Apply / OK to exit.
