vlc bahaves differently on win 10 compared to win 7

Postby oggmeista » 31 Oct 2020 07:11

Hi guys, this is a strange different issue, that i don't know can be altered, and i will have difficulty explaining but here goes

I want to be able to move the players frame off the top of the screen when the player is in windowed mode, (ie not in full screen mode) with win 7 i was easily able to maximise view size by moving the player off the top of the screen so that the top of frame was not visible and the same on the lower and sides of the player. and the players position always stayed in the required screen position,..when multi instancing playbacks, when i try do the same thing now in win 10, the player restets it's position and won't stay fixed to the position i want....

So what i would like to know firstly, assuming you understood what i mean, is can i alter this for me annoying behavior, to be the same as with win 7?, If so would that be a change in the preferences/settings etc, or would i be able to achieve this using a certain version of the player, either older or newer,?, hopefully whoever is reading understands what i mean..i should add this was with using autohide taskbar mode.......it's frustrating for me with this behaviour particularly when this was never the case in win 7, and i'm willing to go through lengthy processes to revert this behavior back to how i used it in win 7 ( i tried with minimal view, but it's still not the same..)

apologies if this is in an erroneous category but it seemed the logical place

thx for reading cheers

Thx 4 replying, but no i don't think so, i mean being able to move a smaller win instance of the player and be able to move the player border/frame off screen,(top) so it is no longer visible at the top of the screen, the player seems to do this if i drag the border to the bottom (keeping the same window dimensions) i move the frame off screen and it won't then jump back onscreen, but can/how do i do this when i use the top of the screen, the player either goes to fullscreen mode or other wise moves (snaps) back so the complete player is visible, i want it to remain non visible hidden off the top of the screen with the same behavior it has when i do the same action using the botto of the screen.....this is how the player behaved in win 7, and it's what i am trying to do with win 10...basically i want it how it was..

a certain player version?, a download or app?, a setting inside the preferences, is their a way?, cheers

You could possibly combine the Snap Assist option with the method described on this site to move the title bar above the top of the screen. Alternatively you can split the screen manually and then move vlc using the arrow keys.
