Problem casting VLC player to Vizio TV

Postby milos1977 » 28 Jun 2020 00:48

Hi everyone, hope anyone can give me a clue why I cant see my Vizio TV listed when I go to Render and cast to my Vizio TV when playing movie from VLC.
Same laptop casts just fine from youtube, or chrome browsing, but not from VLC player.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling latest VLC. Its a 2020 Lenovo Yoga laptop with Windows 10.
I tried a Macbook Pro laptop from work on same TV at home (same Wifi network and all) that runs bootcamp Windows 10 and has VLC, and no problems casting from VLC to my Vizio?

What could be the key to Lenovo laptop?

Thank you very much..

The macBook can see the Cast device, but not the Lenovo?

I will double check VLC from Macbook pro this week. For certain, the iPhone 5, three different Samsung phones and this Lenovo can see and cast to this TV if using Youtube or chromw browser. Only VLC will not see it.

Ok, now Im really confused!

At my home using any laptop windows and mac OS casting to my chromecast VLC sees the chromecast and can cast a movie to TV.
At my sisters apartment I have problem:

- My sister old Toshiba Laptop with Win7 can se Vizio TV also only from Chrome or Youtube, but NOT from VLC!
- Her brand new Lenovo laptop with Win 10 can cast to Vizio also from Youtube and Chrome, but NOT from VLC!
- All our phones (iPhone, Samsung) can cast to this Vizio TV from different apps including Youtube, Netflix, Hulu...
- My laptop Macbook pro with windows 10 can see Vizio tv only casting from Chrome, or Youtube, but NOT from VLC!

- and the for the drumroll.....this same Macbook Pro when booted to Mac OS and playing VLC movie can see and cast to this Vizio NO PROBLEM!

What the hell does this mean. We are all on same WIFI obviously and Youtube can always cast from any device but not VLC unless its VLC from Mac OS Catalina.

p.s.
Maybe this can give some clue..
As plan B I bought my sister Chromecast to install into her Vizio TV separate input thinking maybe tis will be visible to VLC.
I spent two hors trying ultiple tomes to connect Chromecast device to her TV. Although it would tell me its connected sucessfully in every way, it would say that Chromecast is "not visible" and no device could see it to cast to it! I gave up and am returning this Chromecast. I never experienced unsucessful Chromecast istalation and I have done it on two other TVs in the past as easily as 3min setup can be.

Totally not sure what the hell!?!?

Im just trying to have her cast videos played from VLC to TV without cable.

Anyone with any clue to figure out this above pattern?
Could Vizio be blocking VLC casted from Windows 7 and 10, and Mac OS it is not able to block?
Could it be Spectrum TV WiFi preventing it?
