I recently started having a new issue. If I run VLC, then want to close it by selecting the top right corner X - it does not high-lite nor let me do anything. Its basically grayed out. If I then minimize VLC and then maximize it - that X now becomes active! What the heck happened?
As a further test, I realized that none of the controls are active once VLC is running until I minimize then maximize.
I am running the most current version on Windows 10 PC.

Try rest preferences and cache files. From Windows Startup, select VideoLan. Select VLC Media player - reset preferences and cache file.
