Opening Disc
Hello. I have a question regarding the reason why it takes so long to open a disc. I have an upgraded Windows 7 (it has been upgraded to Windows 10). For the other DVDs I have watched, there has been no problem. I am trying to watch a certain favorite DVD, but all that happens is that an orange bar appears in the time bar and slides back and forth. Yesterday, I was able to get this same DVD to play. Is VLC scanning the disk or what? For some reason, the DVD will play after about 15 or 20 minutes. As I type this, the DVD begins to play. The DVD is not scratched very much (I have taken very good care of my DVDs). What is the issue/problem that causes the DVDs to take so long to open? I have only had this problem with one other DVD, which is also well taken care of. Similarly, after a long time of the aforementioned orange bar sliding back and forth, the DVD finally played.

15 minutes? That's huge. Can you delete VLC, delete %appdata%/vlc folder and %appdata%/dvdcss, delete the vlc folder and reinstall VLC?

Yes, it is. It takes longer if I remove the disk from my cd drive and start the process over. I could try that. I had not thought of it. Where would I find the "%appdata%/vlc folder and %appdata%/dvdcss" folder(s)?

explorer and enter %appdata% in the location input it will lead to the right place.

I'm having a similar problem with "The Hitman's Bodyguard", except it never plays, just the orange back and forth forever.
I opened the DVD in file explorer and I can see "AUDIO_TS", "JACKET_P", and "VIDEO_TS" folders, and VIDEO_TS is full of vobs.
I popped the disc into my PS4 (the only disc player I have other than my PC) and it played perfectly.
I've already tried deleting the vlc and dvdcss folders from %appdata%, and uninstalling VLC including deleting preferences and cache, and then reinstalling VLC, with no success, I'm getting the same behavior.
Currently using vlc-3.0.7.1-win64 on Win10-64
Any ideas what I can do to fix this?
