Audio CD problems

Postby ukbirdflu » 09 May 2019 12:52

I seldom use VLC player to play audio CDs and I remember it worked some time ago. Today I used it to play audio cd, by selecting "open disk" then "audio cd" and press play, the yellow strip runs to and fro in the progress bar and nothing is played. I tried playing a dvd and it played. I played the audio cd in Foobar, Window Media player, Winamp and it played ok, just wonder what is wrong.

The VLC is the latest version 3.0.6 64bit and Windows 8 desktop. Tried it on my Asus laptop Windows 10 same VLC version, result is the same.

Any idea what is wrong?

Edit: I left the cd in and open disc and let the yellow strip run, it was after about 2 minutes when the cd started to play. So it can play but only after quite a long time.

I'm having the same issue. Other media files work fine (files from my hard drive or audio files such as a mp3 or FLAC from disc). DVD's play just fine. So I know it's not the disc drive itself. I tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling. Problem still exists. I'm on Windows 10 64 bit using version 3.0.6 of VLC.
