Using libdvdcss with VLC

Postby xanda » 12 Feb 2019 20:13

We are confused about how to install the libdvdcss library with VLC.

Our platform is: Windows 7 Ultimate x64, VLC 3.0.6 Vetinari

Please would someone help us understand how to install and use libdvdcss because after reading the following resources, and some trial and error, we are unable to get it to work.

https://www.videolan.org/developers/libdvdcss.html
https://download.videolan.org/pub/libdvdcss

Here is what we have tried so far:-

First, we have downloaded a copy of the libdvdcss dll from the following resource...

https://download.videolan.org/pub/libdv ... dcss-2.dll

...and placed a copy in one of:-
C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC
C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\plugins\access

But neither has resulted in success.

Secondly, we downloaded a .tar.bz from:-
https://download.videolan.org/pub/libdvdcss/1.4.2

But cannot get this to build/install - there are no instructions to show how and besides this, it looks like UNIX/Linux material anyway.

Thanks

libdvdcss is inside VLC on Windows. No need to install.

Thanks for answering our question.

It was prompted by problems playing back DVDs but it transpires we were barking up the wrong tree and have this issue instead:-

Thank you again. :)
