I would like to convert a cda file (actually a track from a CD) into MP3. I understood from various articles, that VLC is supposed to be able to read cda.
When I open the converter dialogue and click on "Add" ("+"), .cda is not listed as valid extension for the files to show. After clicking on "All files", I can of course see my .cda file, but conversion still does not work: I can add the file to the list of files to be converted, and I can also select a directory for the destination file (MP3), but when I click on "start", no conversion is done. Actually, I don't see any visible effect (error message or what else), except that a zero-length MP3 file has been created in the destination directory.
Do I need a special plugin to have VLC read a file from an Audio CD?
My VLC version is 3.0.3, running on Windows 7.
