Audio works but I have no video output

Windows 10
vlc audio works but there is no video
this is across multiple video file types (all play in windows video player)
uninstalled and reinstalled vlc, no help
all the posts I've read on the internet are telling me to use the accelerated video output setting but I can't find it.

any suggestions? Thanks

Hi,

What is your VLC version? The hardware acceleration setting on the latest release is under "Tools-->Preferences-->Input/Codecs".

I am having same issue, worked perfect till I upgraded to 3.0.4 . I can still play avi files, mp4 have audio no video, Video_TS folders cause VLC to crash.
Using Windows 10 64 bit.

Solved for me anyway. Tools > Preferences > Video: change video output module from "Automatic" to "OpenGL video output for Windows". Everything is playing now and no crashes.
