i have the same question: does VLC media player turn off the screen saver? Where do I find this setting?

Settings - Preferences - Video - "Disable Screensaver" is enabled by default.

Hi all

This is only from personal experience and i know nothing about how VLC works except from trying it myself, but even when "disable screensaver" is selected, i have found that if you move the mouse to the edge of the screen area when viewing full screen, the screensaver will kick in at the appointed time.

If however, you keep the mouse onscreen (right in the middle seems best) and let it "dissapear" of it's own accord after a second or two, the screensaver is usually (but not always) disabled.

I have only found this out from messing around and using VLC a lot recently as my main media player so maybe someone else will be able to shed more light on this.
