Audio level reset at start

Postby mikegonzalez2k » 09 Sep 2018 02:44

Every time VLC starts it does not save the previous audio level.
I like to keep it at 200% for gain but it always starts at 100%.

I have tried the Audio setting "Always reset audio start level to:" however it limits the scale to only 125% and does not let the user manually input a higher value.

Please fix the audio level so that it is saved when VLC closes.
Also please add a feature to allow the audio level to start at a manual preset user value above 125%.

I'm encountering this issue on Windows 8.1 64 bit so it may be an issue with how Windows 8.1 handles audio/video drivers.

Hardware info:
Graphics: Nvidia 860M
Audio: Realtek Audio

Drivers are all latest versions.

There is no reason at all to permanently keep the volume over 100% which is calibrated to 0 dBFS.

If you need to do so, then it means your system is badly set up. Ajust the levels in your system mixer and/or the volume of your amp/speakers.

This has nothing to do with how my system is setup. Audio on every other application works fine. The problem is with the recording of the video. Poorly ripped videos have low volume. To compensate for their bad rip, I set the audio to 200%. This is a common problem with torrented video files. All we are asking for is to restore the functionality which VLC previously allowed. It is not your responsibilty to put child protections on the hardware, if we blow out our speakers that's on us.

Since you posted there too, this is a duplicate of https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph ... 11#p482711

I also completely disagree with you on the responsibility. You might know a lot of thing, but most users don't.
