no subtitles with DirectX (DirectDraw) video output

This is with VLC media player 3.0.2.
Subtitles worked with DirectDraw in the version I was using before. Not sure what version that was.
And they work now with Direct3D9, but that uses more CPU than DirectDraw, and VLC can't keep up when playing a video with a high frame rate.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit with Aero turned off.

You cannot use DirectX with hw decoding.

Thanks. I disabled hardware decoding for the FFmpeg video codec, and now subtitles are shown.
