VLC Player records audio only no video

Hey Ive been trying to record a clip from a DVD but when I play back the output file (which is exported as a mpeg) there is audio only with no video. I have Windows 10 and I am running VLC player 3.01

To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:

1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
2. Set Verbosity to 2
3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard

Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.

I have a similar problem. In my case the audio is recorded ( with a blank screen), then when this finishes, a silent video follows.

VLC version 2.2.6 Umbrella version
Windows version Windows 7 32 bit Professional Build 7601 SP1. Up to date so far as I know

( I also get the same effect on my laptop which runs Windows 10 64 bit operating system . Also up to date)

In my post above I forgot to mention that I was attempting a video recording from a DVD (as the original poster was) . The DVD reads OK

Also the error log is from my desktop running Windows 7 as stated above . It is not from my Windows 10 Laptop ( although this gives the same result).

Recording on Versions of 2.2.x is broken.
I use 3.0.2. No problems in recording.

VLC 2.2.6 reports that I have the latest version, but I see that you are right and that later versions are available for download.

I have installed Version 3.0.1.

That is the version on the Videolan.org website.

This version reports it is the latest (from Help - About -Recheck) but so did 2.2.6.

Now I can't even play the DVD video properly ( 2.2.6 would do that). All I get is a blank green screen and the audio.

I have rebooted, retried, exited and then restarted VLC. Still no luck.

Try latest nightly from the following link;

Download newest 3.0.2 version. 3.0.1 does not recognize VIDEO_TS.IFO files. It was fixed somewhere with 3.0.2.
