I have used vlc on a lot of platforms over the years, and have never found a solution to this problem. Right now I am on Windows 10 and vlc crashes very frequently, so it is more in my face than usual.
Every time vlc crashes and asks if I want to send a crash report, I get a "report sending failed" error. If I wanted to send the report manually, I wouldn't know where to find the crashdumps/core files or where to send it. But what I'd more like to do is fix the problem with sending crash reports. I have searched for an answr a lot and all I have found thus far are people asking the question without getting an answer, or bug reports/tickets on this problem being closed with absolutely no comment from the person closing the bug (although the state they choose is fixed->worksforme - I guess that counts for something.
Are there some troubleshooting steps I can try? How do I fix this?

This is supposed to be fixed in VLC 3.0, but even then, server side issues can always happen.
