There was no error, the video plays and VLC even resized the window to match the resolution of the video. It also appaers to play when looking at the progress bar, but the screen is all black.
On the other hand, I was able to convert the video to an .mp4 with VLC (!) and got a working MP4, which also works with VLC.
However, the video plays without problems in older 2.x versions of VLC. I've tested it on several Windows 7 x64 machines with the VLC 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 for Windows 32 bit.
