Long Delay Loading Blu Ray MKV after Remuxing with MKVToolNix

Postby Bob K » 16 Feb 2018 13:22

Win 7 x64 Home Premium.
VLC 3.0.0
Video is stored on a ReadyNAS and accessed with SMB via 15MBps 5G wireless.

I have a consistent and repeatable issue with VLC 3.0 and the previous version where any blu ray rip I remux with MKVTookNix will cause a 2 to 5 minute loading delay. When I first rip the blu ray with MakeMKV, it will load and play instantly. However, when I remux the file with MKVToolNix, the loading delay will begin at the "+ Cues" entry (line 145) in the log. Then the video will begin playing when the next line, "loading cues done", displays (line 146). This delay does not occur when the remuxed file is stored on the local hard drive. This delay does not occur when I access the remuxed MKV via DLNA using the Universal Plug 'n' Play option.

I normally remux the videos using the "Cues = Automatic" setting in MKVToolNix. I've also set "Cues = None" but the loading delay still occurs.

Any ideas on why I'm experiencing this loading delay and how I might overcome it?
