I think you could at least have the decency to describe exactly the problems and the exact context (error messages, which type of videos, operation system, Vista or XP, hardware, ...), maybe it's nothing else than some graphics configuration option with active X or similar.
You do not even mention of which vlc-version you speak (may be the trunk-version which is officially still very unstable ??).

In any case nobody is forcing you to use the "latest not-for-you-working" version. The nice thing with vlc is that you can download and install ALL former releases.

Easy Way is to go over to File Hippo and select version 3.0 for download but don't download. Then at the right column, there is a list of older versions (thank God) --get version 2.2.8. I used REVO Uninstaller to remove all existing files of 3.0 and it's remnants prior to reinstalling 2.2.8. This is the only thing that worked after screwing with this for an hour trying to make 3.0 work. For those who use Windows Restore Points, that will probably work as well.

You don't need Filehippo... Videolan offers old versions for all, in an easy way, you don't need to be a genius... FTP ARCHIVE

Then, REVO is completely unuseful, VLC uninstall all by itsself, and, then, you only need to remove %appdata%/vlc directory...

Finally, you can also RESET ALL PREFERENCES, when installing or after, clicking Tools / Prefs / Reset prefs... this make VLC virgin as you first get it...

What a disgusting language and tones

You can investigate all the problems, and, maybe, resolve them... or you can downgrade without dramas...

I'm sorry to say, you have found the perfect way to describe this new version.
