In 3.0 Nightly Build, yes. The problem is solved. But 3.0 is in Alpha/Beta, not Stable yet. But you can try.

Might've spoke a little too soon... 3.0 indeed fixes the cursor issue but it isn't stable and has caused W10 to hang twice now requiring a forced, manual shut down.

Any idea as to when this version will officially roll out?

I told you HERE 3.0 is in Alpha/Beta.

I installed it, but downgraded to 2.2.6 / 2.2.8, too many bugs also for me.

Really don't know
1) why 2.2.8 still has "mouse-hide bug" in W10-FALL-UPDATE, since it was released few days ago with just FALL UPDATE fully installed at 99%;
2) when 3.0 will be released; considering VLC Development, we can wait also 6 / 12 months
3) get "SMPlayer", or "MPC/HC", until VLC will be fully fixed (sorry, but it's the only way now!!!)

Tried all of the above with Win10 64bit latest updates installed to 28 Dec 2017 with VLC 2.2.6 umbrella and nothing works. I'll keep it brief. Believe me, I tried everything mentioned above. Perhaps VLC 3 will do the trick.

If the cursor doesn't hide after the set delay in fullscreen mode, tap the 'F' key to exit fullscreen and tap it again to toggle back to fullscreen - the cursor will hide.

This is a cool workaround. It's pretty astonishing this error hasn't yet been patched via update... W10 creator update being the cause; it's essentially something every VLC user running Windows can potentially come up against!
