Sound "stutter".

When replaying some downloaded videos, the sound briefly stops approx every 4-5 seconds for a second.
I don't know what the technical term is, but its like the crack on an old vinyl record.
This is only evident with VLC, Windows Media Player is OK.

Try another audio output module:

If it doesn't help then try to reset the preferences:

But if it happens with any video then check your computer latency:

Thanks for the swift response, I do appreciate it, but I have checked out the links you posted and don't really understand a word of what I read.
All a bit too complicated for me, I think I'll just play the "stuttering" ones with Windows Media Player.

A techie friend tried the links that were posted and nothing seems to change the situation, he also isolated the problem and it seems to only be with mkv ts files.
Ordinary mkv files seem OK.
