Choppy playback since 1.0

Postby parisology » 25 Feb 2017 21:27

Latest version of VLC on Win7-Ultimate:

I check in every few years to say this. I have had choppy video playback since VLC 1.0 came out. The playback stutters slightly every couple of seconds and is most noticeable during full frame pans. This happens with videos from solid state drives, hard drives, or dvds.

The pre 1.0 versions didn't have this problem. Something changed in the software. I'd like to keep using the 0.9x versions but have been warned they are a security risk.

I've been round and round on all the settings before, nothing works. My computer is high end so it's not the hardware.

Window Media Player has no problem with chop, and I often switch over to that to get the best performance if it's a video I really care about.
