Any fixes for VLC freezing at end of conversion?

Postby cyberphonics » 27 Dec 2016 00:17

I add an FLV file and start conversion to MP4 and 98% of the time, when it gets to a few seconds left to convert, VLC stops. If I'm lucky, it'll finish up eventually, but it usually just hangs there indefinitely and I have to close VLC and try again from scratch.

I'm using VLC 2.2.4 but this has happened for all the versions I've used. I've seen people with this issue all over the web who were told to just use something else. I like using VLC because I'm able to quickly rewrap an flv in mp4 without reencoding and without having to do command line nonsense, so I'm checking in to see if there's a workaround or fix for this issue yet or if the suggestion is still the same, to just use something else?

Has a cause even been identified yet, like file size? Because it does seem to happen more with larger files. If there's a setting I can change to maybe optimize conversion performance, that'd be great.
