Will using Tools option let me permanently rotate a video?

Postby prr » 13 Dec 2016 00:26

I have a video that was taken upside down with a phone camera. I would like to post it online, but want to make sure that it is right side up.

I know how to use the Tools/Effects and Filters/Video effects/Geometry window to turn it 180 degress. My question is--will this rotation be permanent--in other words, if I upload this video to facebook, will it still be right side up? Or will it be changed back when it is uploaded?

HI prr.
Once rotated with VLC, your video will change back to its original position when you log in Facebook.
To make it permanent, you have to re-record it.
To do so: Click on View/advanced controls.
A brand new recording button will appear to you.
Set up the destination file first.Tools/preferences/readings-codecs/capture files.

P.S. The names of the tabs and descriptions might be slightly different as my VLC version is in French.
