Is there a recommended procedure to backup my VLC custom preferences before upgrading the the latest release? I have not had good luck with this previously and would like to avoid resetting all of my custom preferences post-update.

Make a backup of the whole %APPADATA%\vlc folder.

Installing VLC 2.2.4 clobbered my preference customizations. Your suggesting was a timesaver - thanks!
