extreme delay on startup, and visualizations mode

Postby eblade » 29 Nov 2005 09:49

0.8.4 .. much nicer than 0.8.2 :D

I have two machines with VLC as the player. 0.8.2 was almost unusable on my 1.0Ghz box, but 0.8.4 cruises, I can't tell the difference between it and my 2.0ghz now :D yay!

problem however, is on the 1ghz box, VLC starts up almost as fast as I can double click it. On the 2ghz box, which has 1gb ram compared to 512 on the 1ghz, it takes almost exactly 25seconds to startup, wether it's the first time loading it, or i close it and immediatly reload it.

Also, the program crashed while I had the Goom visualization running, and now it refuses to turn it off. Even with Visualization set to "Disabled", it still runs (and now it runs extremely slowly, whereas if I turn it on, it runs normally.. but I still can't turn it off)

Any ideas?

Thanks!
