Re: VLC 2.1 convert/save not working

Postby Curry » 02 Jun 2014 01:12

Hi all!

I want to convert a MTS file to MP4 but vlc crashes all time
The steps are the following:
File - Convert...
Added file to convert
Click on convert
Choosen file destination name
Profile: Video - H264 + mp3 (MP4) - (by default)

It seems that it works until vlc reaches the end and then crashes.
Image
I've tried to activate logs but nothing is saved in disk, so i attached an image from my smartphone at the moment of the crash.
VLC versions used... 2.1.X ... then update to 2.1.3... then uninstalled and installed 2.0.8. All versions behave in the same way.

Any ideas or suggestions?

thanks

I am having exactly the same problem - convert a large file from MTS to MP4 and newest version of VLC crashes. Repeatedly. Sometimes I get a MP4 file out of it, but there is no video in there, only audio. Frustrating. Bug?

ANy progress on this problem at All??
I have 2.1.5 and no joy.

Trying to get to H264+AAC mp4 output file.
Only a 1k resulting file is created when executing CONVERT -> Start (after setting proper profile settings for conversion (H264 video and AAC audio).
When I select default profiles like MP4+ MP3 Audio, I only get Audio.

I use VLC 2.1.5 in Windows 7 x64.
I am working with H264 MPEG-4 .mp4 (h264) files, and I just want to use the basic "record" GUI function.
It always gives me 681-byte files .. mp41avc1qt moov,
and when I look at verbosity 2 (debug) messages in VLC it shows
a very long series of those

Code: Select all

main warning: trying to send non-dated packet to stream output!
lines.
Followed by

Code: Select all

main debug: removing module "packetizer_h264" main debug: killing decoder fourcc `h264', 0 PES in FIFO
Then does it seem like my problem is coming from the same problem as most everyone else who posted in this topic?
Thanks; Larry

p.s. It seemed that I was running the x86 (32-bit) version 2.1.5 package.
So I uninstalled that, and am now running an x64 (64-bit) installation of 2.1.5.
But this problem persists; the short file and the messages appear to be the same as before.

Has there been any movement on this issue? I had similar issues but haven't tried it again in the last month? Is there a new build which corrects the issue?

I have the same problem using 2.1.5 on win7 - convert just does not work. I tried to do cd->flac or mp3 but then anything I tried I got empty ts file. I looked up the encapsulate tab but there is no option not to encapsulate which is odd. Trying few, that did not invoke 'not available mux' message, did not provide anything useful either. The files were empty and no error was produced.
I also tried the file list but the result was the same.
I recall I tried that many versions before and it did not work either so this seems to be persistent problem at least ins ome configurations.

I had the same problem of convert to mp3 not working. Giving the complete path of the destination folder with the filename with .mp3 extension did the trick.

In the Convert-Dialog Source: begins with file:///C:/Users/...
When I just copied this to Destination File: (chaning only the filename extension), I had no success (conversion stream didn't start).
But when I took away this file:///, it suddenly works. (-.
