turn off album art

Postby Whatapain » 22 Nov 2015 00:52

I see this asked evertywhere, but nobody will answer it...why not?
I just want to disable album art. I don't what to change it, I want it to never work again. Just turn the stupid thing off!

It would be nice to get rid of the cone too. I don't want to see anything unless it is a video. Is that so weird or what?

Why, exactly, is that so hard?

 OK, found it myself. Too bad so many have asked and nobody has bothered to answer.

Here it is:

(windows/user/your username)AppData\Roaming\vlc\vlcrc

Find:
# Display background cone or art (boolean)
#qt-bgcone=1

Change to:
# Display background cone or art (boolean)
qt-bgcone=0

From now on it will work for an adult, not 12 year old girls that want silly pictures...

WHAT A PAIN!

Yeah, no one cares, no one bothers.

You can disable 'allow metadata access", but that will do exactly FREAKING NOTHING. Even if it is an mp3 you're playing, that already has art, it will download a different version of it, and store it in a folder. I found an easy, though a bit drastic fix; block VLC on the firewall. I don't actually need to connect to the internet, so no loss there.

However, it will STILL copy the artwork of whatever mp3 you play to a folder, where they will just pile up and use up your storage. Why? Who the hell knows. It's completely pointless.
