Snapshots seem compressed

Postby Lamont95 » 03 Oct 2015 00:00

I have recently been getting a problem with VLC where the snapshots I take, compress the image to fit a specific image dimensions. I've tried adjusting things in the settings, but it doesn't do anything to resolve the problem. Everything was fine until one of the recent updates. Any suggestions?

How it appears on VLC

Sorry if the pictures don't work, I'm not sure how to upload them on this website.

Links to files on your local drive can't work and this forum doesn't allow to attach files.
So you need to use an external hosting site like http://imgur.com or http://postimage.org.

To me the second screenshot is showing the correct aspect ratio, the first one being the raw anamorphic resolution (720*576) which is used on a PAL DVD.

Yeah its the snapshots that are coming out the wrong size and I'm just unsure of how to fix it.

It never used to do this. It seems to be OK when I capture recent newer films, but whenever its older ones, due to the aspect ratio, VLC seems to squeeze them. Before I updated it I could capture anything and it would come out the correct size.
