Ripping dvd with VLC media player time finished

When i start the ripping process, a blue line streams across the bottom of the screen and keeps going. How do i know when the ripping is finished? see attached please. :) Image

I would rather choose a professional DVD software to handle the backing up and copying process than VLC. I consider it as a video player.
