vlc mediaplayer windows crash mpeg2/mpeg4

Postby jrum » 29 Jun 2015 16:04

I have a testfile that contains an mpeg4 stream that switches midstream to mpeg2.
I'm running two vlc applications one on linux vlc 2.1.6 and one on windows vlc 2.1.5.
The windows application gives crashes most of the time, while the linux didn't produce any crash.
Tried it also with windows vlc versions 2.2.1 and 2.1.3.
I know adaptive transcoding/transrating is not supported by vlc, but I would expect them to handle failures in the same way?
What are the options to not have it crash under windows? Are there some tweaks I could do?
I have a testfile that simulates the crash, but I don't know how to add to post.
If I use a plugin it crashes also: Windows Presentation Foundation Host has stopped working.
In the windows event log :
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
