playing cds

Postby johnnyh » 30 May 2015 18:57

OK, it's old school, but I wanted to put a cd in the d drive and play it.

I have a new computer with Windows 8.1 (didn't want to pay Microsoft for a player)VLC doesn't recognize it. So I installed VLC. VLC works with a DVD,

Is there some way I can play a cd with VLC? If not, could someone recommend a CD player that works as well as VLC does for DVDs?

You should be able to play audio CDs with VLC. If the disk is not visible when you select File->Open Disc, something else is wrong. When you browse to the D: drive with Windows Explorer, you see any files? If not, the disk may be corrupt or your CD/DVD player may be defective.
