Apply windowed shape to aspect ratio? !size

Postby ThumpieBunnyEve » 09 Jan 2010 10:02

Windows version of VLC, 1.0.3.0 goldeneye

When i stretch, shape or re-size VLC in windowed mode, it almost always results in black bars on the sides or top and bottom.

Is there some sort of preference option to constrain windowed proportions in such a way that the window end result Shape, matches aspect ratio for the currently playing video? regardless of size?

I've seen other programs do such a thing. A few NES game emulation programs come to mind. But presently VLC seems to compensate with black bars above/below or to the sides.

I hope I've illustrated my inquiry sufficiently. i tried searching google for advice on the topic to no avail.

Looking forward to replies.
Thank you in advance,

Soooooo it's 2015 and I don't see this implemented yet. Am I missing something in the VLC options?
