play all files

this may seem a really dumb question but when i try to view real player files for some reason windows media player comes on showing a error report ,how do i get Videolan to play all files ?

When you install vlc you can associate vlc with all file types if you like, just install it again and check the file types you want.

VLC doesn't read real player files either (at least not the newest codecs). That might change soon for the "cook" audio codec used in real media files ... but not for rv9 or 10 video codecs.
