Windows 8.1 VLC Sleep issues

Postby justduckit » 19 Mar 2015 09:55

Hello folks, I really enjoy VLC overall, but I've been having a particular problem for some time now and decided to post on it to see if anyone else can relate or has any suggestions.

My problem is this: When I leave VLC paused, Windows 8.1 (64-bit) just doesn't want to enter sleep mode at all. I'm fairly positive that this is exclusive to VLC.exe as well given that the sleep functionality is intact everywhere except in this instance.

Any ideas? :)

When leaving a video paused, VLC basically treats it as an active video. During active video, VLC prevents the screen saver from starting, or the computer from going into sleep, or hibernate mode. From what I can tell, this is done by design to keep these things from happening during your video. If you want the computer to enter sleep mode, my suggestion is to close VLC player, instead of leaving it open, and paused.
